Subject: 12's going through to the bed? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone mounted speakers through the back cab wall and into the bed? I was thinkin about this cuz I have a reg cab r/t and the 12's are in truck boxes that barely fit but cant move my seat all the way back! Kinda sucks! And the bass at some points sounds kinda crappy! Any ideas on how to seal it from the elements???

Message: DrewzR/T - "open into the bed" nope not going to work, the speakers must be in some kind of enclosure. So unless you just want to rattle the bed or build a rolling PA system you'll have to cut the back of the cab out and seal it to the enclosure somehow.
I've only done one install like this (sorry no pictures) and we took the rear window out and put the subs in a large box under a full height topper. At least this way you do not cut any metal and the window can be put back in. The guy bought some special gasket to connect the cab to the topper - I have no idea where he got it however :(

Message: Hey, as matt pointed out I have doen this with my truck and it turned out to be Fxcking amazing! To do this it is not exactly cheap.
First I had to take the truck to my installer, we took measurements of the size of hole to be cut into the bed. I then had to take the truck to an autobody specialist and they charged me 250.00 just to cut the whole. They completly strip the inside of your vehicle to prevent any sort of fire hazards.(sparks fly when cutting).
My insatller was able to order the gasket seal to seal the hole. Once the hole was cut through and the gasket was installed to the truck My installer need to keep the truck 5 days to do the install. YOU MUST PUT SPEAKERS IN A BOX!! My entire install NOT including speakers/amps was roughly 2,000.00 But I went all out and had neon lights added to the system and plexiglass with a custom design cut through it.
To see somewhat detailed pictures of the install go to: MiKeYs TrucK Be sure to look at both pages.(Page 2 Shows some of the insatll process. If you would like more pictures of anything I can take them at your request. Feel free to ask other questions.

Message: if you have a cover over the bed you could get free-air subs and run them with no box. it makes an infinate baffle in the bed. you just need to make sure the subs can run in a free air enviroment.
