Message: 98' Dak-Slt-CC with infinity premium system has an external amp mounted behind the passenger side kick panel.. many different opinions on the output wattage.
Replacing the factory HU is simple, go to your local auto-parts, wally-world, internet-online, or auto-audio speciality store and get a Dash Kit and Wire Harness adapter... it'l cost ya somewhere round 20 or 30 bucks, but makes the replacement a simple job...
Solder or crimp on the wire harness adapter, yank the dash trim, remove 2 bolts, disconnect 2 connectors and a ground wire, insert new dash kit, connect the ground and the connectors, slode in the unit, put the dash trim back, and listen to music..

Message: just don't make the same mistake i did.. not knowing there is an external amp, i connected the blue, remote out/ant, wire straight from my HU to my subs-amp, and had no sound to the factory spkrs. The remote-ant/out turns on the infinity amp, had to yank it back out connect the remote back into the wire-harness..
Later I went in and yanked out the infinity amp and wired around it, beacuse the new HU 40*4 over drives it and causes distortion in the door/rear spkrs very quickly when the volume is cranked.
The factory ground is not in the harness, its a single wire with spade lug plugged directly on the radio..
