Having a reg cab is a beotch!! Right now, I have a single kicker l7 10" in a wedge style box behind my passenger seat. My gf is getting pissed off that she is cramped (arg, girls dont understand lol) so I am toying with new box ideas. I am thinking skinny and tall. Any ideas? Anyone done this before?
On a side note, how do JL's 10w0's (or w1s) fare on sq and spl? Thanks all...

You can't go too tall because of the design of the back wall panel. If you removed the panel and fabbed something up, you might be able to gain at most 2".

If you want to get creative, you could remove the center section of your seat and buil a custom sub box there. There's enough room to fit at least 3 10" subs and that's if you have a standard.

GOT 3 IDEAS FOR YA!!!!!!!

1. JL has/had this duel coil 10 w3 that doesnt take a junk load of air to move. had one in my truck with a long box and worked fine. I also riped up the carpet n stuff to get that extra 2 inches. I think they came out with a w7 thats my buddies talked constantly about.

2. rob a hardware store! take the money, saws-all, and stuff to make a box. Buy a lockin fiberglass tunnik cover. build a box that can fit 4 12" subs in the bed (speakers of your choice!). take the saws-all and cut a hole between your bed and cab right below the back glass! lay a acordian rubber seal between the two. ( dont laugh too hard .... I'm thinking of it myself)

3. dump the woman and pick another one up at the next audio show! they understand!

seriously, If your goin to go JL, get the w3 or w7 10". they are defently worth the extra money. I cant remeber the acual air space or dementions but I can get them from my buddie if you want. ( he sold me the 12's!) And for dbl? Its enough to make some of those "2 12" in the trunk" fellas jelious.

Do you know HOW deep the W7 is?? The W3 is too deep for that matter and it's deeper than the L7 Kicker, so why would he want to go bigger when he was asking to go smaller?!

Dude, don't tell people to do a cut-through unless you give them fair-warning and have done it yourself. I do not reccomend this for you...

To answer your original question.. the W0s are newer than the W1s and I like the W0s, good for when size is an issue, but if you're looking for some low depth subwoofers, there is a big post around here somewhere that I and some other people list a bunch of subs that work well in regular cabs.

xplikt...... you got to ease up, my man! It was oviously a joke about cuttin a hole in someones stuff. I think some would get it when the idea started with " Rob a hardware store ". Hummer is a serious key to life.
Also, from what I am getting from seeing other messages you post, your seem to be comming off a little harsh to everyone. RELAX!!!! Everyone can be entitled to bad advice once in a while! How you deal with it is the key.
All that I was saying was I HAD a w3 single 10 inch sub in my truck and made it work well enough AND get the seat to sit back. Oviously there are better options out there.

P.S. I have worked on advance stealth fighters and bombers for over 6 years, took several classes in composite repair and advance composite to include boron, graphite, and kevlar. I have personally CUT holes in bigger and more expencive things than a truck . I will be the first to admite that I take that for granted when discussing things with other people about cutting into thier price posetion. Next time I will asure you that I will give a more thurough explanation to my ideas or just simply put j/k after my thought......... fair?

Damn, I knew my messages came out as they were to be harsh, but I do not mean them to be so -- except for a couple of the posts to DarkFury in a post a while back, whups. My apologies, I did not mean for it to sound harsh, the part about cutting up the truck I was actually laughing because I have seen that posted soo many times before (not just here) to some people who just wanted good reccs. for a sub.

PS: I just finished cutting up a compuer case with a dremel:P

PSS: The W7 looks like it's going to be very promising. I would love to buy the 13.5", but that one's expected price is going to fall somewhere around 800+ dollars -- don't remember exactly.

I have 2 10s in a single cab
the box goes all the way right
to left. starts wide at the bottom
and gets skinny as it goes up.
The speakers are placed at the lower
right and or left hand sides of the box.
I have not lost any seat space at all.
If you want i can put up a pic of the box
i got.

Post a pic somewhere so we all can see your box. Where did you get it at or did you build it?

Thanks.

Ok, I have finally completed my console/enclosure for my regular cab 99' Dakota. Inside is a JL Audio 10W6 to fit in the middle where the old console was. I will post pics in a sec... I will build the consoles for a price, not sure on what that is going to be. IT IS NOT A QUESTION ON HOW IT SOUNDS. The 10W6 is plenty loud for all the bass heads believe me, and that is without distortion. For any serious question you can email me at euqnoj@yahoo.com
