Message: I was wondering if anybody was on the same page as me. I think that if you are pushing for high SPL numbers, that's fine. But in the end you are only competeing on the basis of who has the fatter wallet. If I have five 12's, I'm loud. But if the other guy has six, he's louder. So my point is what about the middle man who holds his own on a budget? If someone who spends the summer figuring out how all his equipment works, installs it himself and can hit 139.5 with two 12's and a total cost of $2500. Shouldn't he get more credit than the guy who rolls up with Daddy's credit card, sinks $5000 and no instalation time (because he paid the shop to do it) to bump 4 15" kicker comps at an spl of 145?

Message: I spent $850 on 2 15" MTX 8000's and a MTX 81000D and I can get over 155 no prob. Ya just gotta know how to shop. I do agree with you though...the bigger the wallet, the better the system most likely!

This is why I now longer compete! The only real creativity and interesting systems where in the lower watt classes because you were trying to squeeze alot out of so little. I ran in the 150-300 watt class back in the day and managed 3rd at an IASCA event even against the "blank checkers" as we called them.
