Subject: Visor Screens !! IP: Logged
Message: I am considering putting screens in my visors and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them. I am looking at a 7" wide XO Vision that looks pretty nice. Does anyone know if this is a decent brand. It's dimensions are 7 3/4" x 5 1/8" x 1/2" and it comes with a visor shroud. Its resolution is 1,440 (H) x 234 (V). What kind of resolution should I look for. I want the screens to be big, but I don't want them to look sh!tty. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Message: I installed a generic 5" inch screen in my visor. It cost me $100 on ebay, the picture is very sharp, I was impressed the first time I plugged it in. I don't think u'd have to worry about the resolution. People are impressed enough that you have video in your visor. Its when u get a big screen tv for ur house u wanna make sure the picture isn't crap. The one I installed didn't come w/ a shroud or anything, it would have looked nice if the hole in the material where the mirror was wasn't bigger than my screen. I still have to put some kind of frame around it to take up the extra space. It sure was fun installing it myself though.

Message: How hard was it to install ?? I've been looking all over the web for instuctions with pics of an install, but I haven't found any. I'm pretty good with stuff like that, plus if I can save the money and do it myself, I'm all for it. Also, do you have any pics of your install ??

Message: I Dont recommend doing it yourself. My brother had it done to his Lightning, 5.8" screens in both visors. He was having sound problems at first. And also, you have to cut up your visors to fit both of them, unless they come with the visors. And one of the hardest things to do it to hide the wire. Unless u have the right tools and are very experienced with mobile video, i'd let the professsional do it.
