Message: I just put those speakers in my 97 cc. I used the components in the front and than just the 2-way 6.5's in the rear. I also wired them to an alpine 4 channel 200 watt amp. They sound pretty good but i would suggest some sort of deadening material especially in the front doors just to keep the rattling to a minimum but other than that great speakers.

Message: Just ordered the Infinity Kappas 652.5i, they require an adapter to replace the door/rear spkrs in the '98 Dak-CC..
C-City has the 652i, reference version of the Kappas, on sale for $79.99..

Message: there is no such thing as the reference version of the Kappas. reference series is the low end speakers and Kappas are the hi end units. reference are usually rated 50 or 60 watts rms and the kappas are rated at least 75 watts. meaning that the reference series will have the voice coils burned out by the 65 watt rms infinity amps.

Message: There was a post in another thread that said the factory Infinity amp was rated at 30 watts RMS x 6 channels. Here is the page for the thread, http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/aud/52.html
Anybody know definitely which is correct 30 or 65 watts?

Message: The Referrence series speakers will take 75 - 90 watts... I have them on a 55 watt amp and they sound KILLER! I actually think they sound better then the Kappas because of the silk dome tweeters.
I'd bet the factory amp is only 30 watts. Come on it's a crappy, upgraded factory system in a $24K truck.

Message: Don't forget that the factory infinity speakers are 2-ohm, so if you replace them with 4-ohm speakers you're essentially cutting your amp power output in half.

Message: go to www.infinitysystems.com the reference infinities are rated on the factory site at 50 to 60 watts rms. the kappas are rated from 75 watts up. Iknow of what I speak. they are RATED not neccessarily capable of that wattage. Individual results may vary.
