Subject: WIRING .... HELP!!! IP: Logged
Message: i figure y'all in the audio area will be able to help me out. Im currently in the process of installing powerlocks w/keyless in a 2002 sxt club cab. I have a few questions:
1. The ignition harness is the big huge bunch o'wires that goes into the back left corner of the steering wheel setup right? How do i disconnect this so that i can splice wires. I thought i hit the little red release and it doesn't want to pull out.
2. Assuming that the big bunch of wires is the ignition harness, what are the 2 wires (1 red and 1 white) that also run to the steering wheel area?
3. I am also installing a alpine 7894, and just want to make sure that the factory stereo for a 2002 (not infinity) does not have an external amp and that the box lookin' thing behind the driver's side kick panel is the computer.
Also, this is a stupid question, but the little ring that came with my amp power wire goes under the battery connector around the terminal right?
thanks. I'm new to the wiring thing, but i would like to become good enough to wire some amps and a thunderform eventually.
thanks again for any help you can give
-erik

Message: 2000 Dakota. Recently bought a Pioneer stereo and the needed adapter harness (Walmart CR01). The stereo lights up and all the functions seem to work on the radio, but I have no sound. At first I thought it was a bad radio, so I returned it for a replacement with the same results. Am I missing something? Any body got any clues?

Message: With out seeing it all i can say is first check your grounds, than I would tell you to make sure that the wireing harness that you bought has 2 diffrent peices in it, i think a gray and a black one. Than make sure that all the wires, I mean all the wires comming off the headunit are tied to something and dont use any of the extra wires, tape them off. Than everything should work any with pioneer everything should be all good.
